Private Schools
Crescent City has a significant number of private schools throughout the city.
Private schools depend on their private funding. Their funding may come from tuition, grants, donations, and endowments. Frequently, private schools seek money from alumni, businesses, and community organizations. Private schools associated with a religious group, such as is the case with Catholic parochial schools, the religious organization — like the Catholic Church — may be an important source of funding.
Being autonomous, private schools are free to offer religious education, or curriculum not regulated by state standards. Some of the schools are not accredited, although most are. Accreditation ensures that the school meets national standards.
