Battery Point Lighthouse
The Battery Point Lighthouse is located at the south end of A Street in Crescent City, and is open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 4 p.m. during TIDE PERMITTING. The lighthouse was first lit in 1856 and was automated in 1953. The lighthouse was deactivated from 1965 to 1982, then the lighthouse was reactivated as private aid to navigation, operated by the Del Norte Historical Society.
Take a short walk across the land bridge to the tidal island and the lighthouse, at low tide. The lighthouse is a Coast Guard approved private aid to navigation in which our resident keepers care for the lighthouse and give tours of the facility. Come in for the tour; hear stories of the past keepers, life on the island, and climb up into the light tower itself for an amazing view!!!Since the island is only accessible at low tide, hours of operation vary so be sure to call (707) 464-3922 for hours of accessibility. As a rule-of-thumb, The lighthouse is open:
- April through September
- Wednesday - Sunday, 10AM - 4 PM (Tide permitting)
- October through March
- Saturday & Sunday, 10AM - 4 PM (Tide permitting)
